The hospital will offer specialised medical services such as obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, neonatal care, and reproductive health. It will feature 100 critical care beds and 10 modular operating theatres, along with luxury birthing suites. To provide advanced maternal and paediatric care, the hospital will incorporate high-end technology for specialty services, including a cath lab, CT, MRI, ECMO, IVUS, EBUS, and ERCP. Additionally, it will offer 24/7 emergency care.
According to the bulk deal data available with BSE, Olympus Capital Asia Investments sold 4.50 crore shares or a 9 per cent stake in Aster DM Healthcare in two tranches.
The patient underwent the re-transplantation in December 2023 after which he faced initial complications such as bleeding and rejection episodes but through regular biopsies and close monitoring the patient has now completed 6 months of the second heart transplant with no further complications. According to the hospital this is only the second surgery of its kind in the history of India.
The hospital chains have improved their average revenues per operating bed during the quarter aided by a better payer mix - more insured and self-paying patients and less business from institutions and government schemes.
The hospital will increase its bed capacity from existing 500 to 850 beds by FY2027 and will have an additional infrastructure expansion of 300,000 sq feet with an investment of around Rs.250 cr.
"We are getting a lot of inbound interest from investors in the last six months; now it has increased," Dr. Azad Moopen, chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, said in an interview to ET. "The active work on this will happen once the transaction (business sale in the GCC countries) is completed. We are looking for the best PE or investor who is ready to align with our plans," Moopen added.
As part of a strategy to split the operation from its Indian entity, hospital chain Aster DM Healthcare has agreed to sell a controlling stake in its Gulf business to a regional investment group for $1 billion. The offloading of a 65% stake in the business to a consortium led by private-equity firm Fajr Capital brings to a close a year-long sale process after the business was seen as undervalued by some of its investors.
