Asha workers are getting Rs 1,000 fixed amount per month from the state government and Rs 2,000 from the central government. These are apart from the incentives given to them as per the activities they carry out, which include institutional delivery, spacing in delivery, reporting of maternal death and immunisation programme.
The workers are also demanding a minimum wage of Rs 26,000. Around 1,000 ASHA workers were seen shouting slogans, conveying their message and expressing their anger, near the deputy commissioner’s office on Tuesday.
The move aims to screen 5,000 workers and to ensure better health for expecting and lactating mothers, neonates, infants and children. Local government hospitals in each taluka have carried out primary screenings and rural hospitals (RH) may conduct necessary investigations.
Confirmed daily cases of dengue in June till Sunday are nearly four times higher than the cases reported during the same period in May. In the first 11 days of May, 12 probable cases and four confirmed cases were reported per day.
The World health organisations (WHO) in one of its research found that one third of women have experienced mistreatment during childbirth in health facilities in many countries. As part of Mission Utkrashti, ASHA workers, who are at the front-line taking government healthcare schemes to villages, have now been tasked to identify children suffering from leukemia — the most common type of cancer among kids. Doctors at the postgraduate institute of child health said the ASHA workers are being trained at their cluster meetings every month.
The district officials are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that all children are covered under the special programme. Apart from routine areas such as clusters and slums where Asha and anganwadi workers are visiting, the departments are engaging others as well to conduct the camps.
People suffering from filariasis are advised to take medicine once a year to avoid it. Patients need to also take extra care of the affected organs.
