A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed between Apollo Hospitals and Monash University. This collaboration includes data and technology sharing, staff training for Apollo, and hands-on project experience for Monash students, with a focus on developing AI-driven healthcare solutions.
Apollo's proposed 500 bedded hospital in Worli, Mumbai with an investment of Rs 1300 crore will be executed through a build, operate and manage agreement with Konkan Unnati Mitra MandaI (KUMM) on around 1. 7 acres of land.
The upcoming Apollo Hospital will provide treatment for 10 per cent of patients from below the poverty line (BPL) free of charge or at subsidised rates under government schemes, an official said.
The collaboration also includes a joint social responsibility initiative aimed at providing innovative healthcare services to rural communities in India. This will combine Garmin's advanced wearable technology with Apollo's extensive healthcare expertise to improve access to quality health monitoring in underserved areas.
Water vapor therapy (REZUM), also known as steam therapy, involves injecting 0.45 ml of steam at temperatures between 100-113°C for 9 seconds into various obstructed areas of the prostate. The procedure is performed using a disposable device under mild sedation or local anesthesia and takes about 10-15 minutes, with same-day discharge for the patient, informed Apollo prostrate institute.

In addition to AI, telemedicine, or telestroke services, have made a significant impact. Through remote consultations, telestroke networks connect local emergency departments with neurologists and stroke specialists via video conferencing. This means that even in rural or underserved areas, stroke patients can receive expert evaluation and treatment recommendations promptly.

Currently, the diagnosis of fatty liver disease mainly relies on a combination of patient history, physical examination, and blood tests, including liver enzyme levels and markers of liver function. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound and fibro scan, can help visualise the liver and detect fat accumulation, even in cases where liver enzyme levels may not show any significant deviation.
