"Sixty-three medicines have been added to the existing list," Dr M Srinivas said. Palbociclib, Dasatinib, Methotrexate, Trimazet, Magesterol Acetate and Leucovorin are among the medicines added to the list. Besides, injection regular insulin, injection NPH Insulin and injection Insulin Premix 30/70 will also be available free of cost.

The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has announced that manufacturers and importers of high-risk medical devices who have applied for a license before September 30 can continue to supply them in the market for another six months. New regulations state that medical devices in the 'class C' and 'class D' categories cannot be sold without a license. Many manufacturers have applied for licenses but have not received them on time. The government's think tank, NITI Aayog, has recommended that all medical devices meet safety and quality standards.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) in India has issued guidelines for the practice of telemedicine, stating that doctors cannot prescribe drugs regulated in Schedule X of the Drug and Cosmetic Act, such as anti-cancer drugs, via telemedicine consultations. Only over-the-counter drugs and certain medications for common ailments can be prescribed.
