Odisha govt plans to spend Rs 1,062 crore on health infrastructure
The action plan has proposed additional construction at nine district headquarters hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs 26.7 crore. Similarly, the department as earmarked Rs 240 crore for construction of sub-divisional hospitals (SDH) as per the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS).
“The health and family welfare department has approved action plan for construction of new buildings and maintenance and repair of existing health institutions for 2022-23 to the tune of Rs 1,062 crore for 863 number of work under the state sector of scheme — Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Seva Mission,” said the letter issued to all chief district medical and public health officers.
The action plan has proposed additional construction at nine district headquarters hospitals at an estimated cost of Rs 26.7 crore. Similarly, the department as earmarked Rs 240 crore for construction of sub-divisional hospitals (SDH) as per the Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS).
The government has notified six community health centres (CHC) as SDHs. For the construction of new CHC buildings as per the IPHS norms, the government will spend Rs 5,964 crore and for construction of primary health centres (PHC) and staff quarters the government will spend Rs 355 crore.
Around Rs 46 crore will be spent on repair and maintenance of PHC and CHCs, official sources said. For construction of Ayush hospitals the government will spend Rs 580 crore.
The health secretary has asked all CDMPHOs to verify the budgetary provisions from other sources like National Health Mission implementation plan, PM- Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Ama Hospital, District Mineral Funds and Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation for the same work or project and ensure that there is no duplication of the source of funding. The officers have also been asked to inform the higher authorities about the issues related to site, land or any other that obstructs the implementation of works or projects.
