New medical projects announced for Maharashtra

Kumar also announced setting up of 100 generic medicine centres in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Yojana. “We are currently importing 60% of the bulk drugs required for generic medicines from China and so to reduce the cost of medicines we have planned to set up the drug park in Nagpur,”said Kumar.
He was addressing a press conference with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday. They also announced the setting up of national institute of pharma which will be an IIT level institute which will confer Masters and Doctarate degrees. Currently three of these institutes are being planned in Rajasthan, Chattisgarh and Maharashtra. This institute will come up in Nagpur and will be spread across 100 acres and a budget provision of Rs 600 crore have been made by the central government for this project.
