Kishan wants land allotted for global medicine centre in Hyd
Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy asked the state government to identify and allot land to establish the proposed global centre for traditional medicine in Hyderabad.
He said the Centre is developing the global centre, as announced by the WHO, for the benefit of Telangana. In a letter to CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, Kishan Reddy said the CM should resolve the land issue fast so that work on the new global centre could be taken up.
He said that Hyderabad has knowledge-based industries such as biotech, pharmaceuticals and IT/ITES and new global centre will be a feather in city’s cap. He said the city is already a hub for lifesciences and multinational corporations as well as scientific research institutions.
Kishan Reddy and Karimnagar MP Sanjay Kumar had previously written to PM Narendra Modi urging him that proposed centre be established in Hyderabad. They said there is enough land available on IDPL premises and it would be a perfect location for global centre. WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had made an announcement regarding the centre in 2020.
