Jaipur : No bond for students of non-clinical branches
In an order issued by medical education department, the requirement of a bond has been waived off for candidates opting for non-clinical branches
The order says that there is no requirement of a bond for those opting for PG courses in Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM), Physiology and Forensic Medicine.
The condition of bond has been waived off for non-clinical branches, as it has been observed that medical students do not have much interest in these branches and a lot of seats remained vacant. The move will encourage them to opt for the non-clinical branches.
Besides, cardiothoracic surgery and pediatric surgery are the other two branches, for which the medical education department waived off the requirement of a bond.
“The students so selected (for the academic session 2019-20) in medical fraternity will have to fill a bond amounting to Rs25 lakh for a degree course and Rs five lakh for a diploma course, for commitment to serve the state government for a period of five years. The bond requirement for Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Preventive and Social Medicine (PSM), Physiology, Forensic Medicine has been waived off,” says, NEET PG medical and dental admission/counselling board-2019.
It is compulsory for PG students to sign a bond of Rs five lakh, assuring that they would not leave the course without completing it. Also, another bond of Rs25 lakh is compulsory for PG students, assuring the government that they would work for at least five years in government hospitals.
Since state government is facing shortage of doctors, the bond has been made mandatory for ensuring that after passing the course, the doctors will render their services for at least five years, in a government set-up.
Besides, NEET PG medical/ dental admission board-2019 has also released seat matrix of admissions in PG medical courses.
There are 584 PG seats in government medical college and 253 in three private medical colleges of the state. Anaesthesia branch has the highest number of seats to offer.
