Health dept in Rajasthan on high alert over diseases that cyclone may bring
The health department is closely monitoring the situation and receiving regular updates from the Meteorological Department regarding cyclone Biparjoy. The cyclone has already made its way into the state, impacting districts such as Barmer, Jalore, and Pali.
They have also been warned about the potential spread of seasonal, vector-borne, and water-borne diseases in the affected areas.
The health department is closely monitoring the situation and receiving regular updates from the Meteorological Department regarding cyclone Biparjoy.
Dr Ravi Prakash Mathur, Director of Public Health, health department, stated, "We have issued instructions to all joint directors and chief medical health officers to be prepared for cyclone Biparjoy. They have been advised to keep the control rooms at district and block levels operational and to provide continuous updates to the state control room."
The cyclone has already made its way into the state, impacting districts such as Barmer, Jalore, and Pali.
The health department has instructed rapid response teams and mobile teams to remain on standby with essential medicines to ensure prompt action during any disaster. These teams will be deployed to affected areas as needed, and ambulances are also on high alert.
Hospitals have been instructed to ensure that treatment facilities are readily available to handle an influx of patients in the event of a disaster. Medical officers and paramedical staff have been directed to stay at their headquarters and ensure the availability of drugs in hospitals.
The health department officials will coordinate with other government departments to effectively manage natural disasters.
Furthermore, officials in areas experiencing heavy rainfall have been asked to continue monitoring the situation even after the cyclone has passed. Waterlogging can lead to the spread of vector-borne diseases, water-borne diseases, and other seasonal illnesses in affected areas.
