“The National Medical Commission Act, 2019, which will be implemented in January, has provisions for inspecting medical colleges once every four years. According to the Act, the first inspection is to be carried out when the college is established,” a source in the health department said. The MCI has thus dropped its plans to inspect more colleges in Gujarat, he added.
The MCI, which recently inspected Visnagar Medical College and M K Shah Medical College in Ahmedabad, had earlier planned to inspect all colleges run by the government and GMERS and two greenfield colleges in the state.
