Govt facilities bill ₹875cr for 9.2L patients, pvt hosps ₹2433cr for 11.5L under Ayushman

A reply from National Health Authority (NHA) under RTI Act showed that private hospitals in MP generated Rs 2432.78 crore after treating 11.52 lakh patients under PMJAY-Ayushman Bharat Scheme till November. In case of public facilities, the value is Rs 875 crore for treatment of 9.16 lakh patients under the scheme, showed NHA reply. Since then, the treatment value received by private hospitals in Madhya Pradesh is on rise in every fiscal.
It rose from only Rs 34.29 crore in 2018-19 to Rs 871 in 2021-22. The trends are similar in case of Indore- medical hub of state, where around three-fourth of the claim amount under scheme was received by private hospitals till last year. CMHO Dr BS Saitya told TOI, “In the scheme the package for treatments like cardiac, orthopaedics, ophthalmology is very high. There are several private hospitals specialised in these kinds of high-end health services in the district.”
In case of state, the people rush towards private hospitals in Indore, Bhopal for such high-end specialised care, added Dr Saitya.
