Centre to states: Exchange near-expiry vaccine
To ensure no wastage of Covid-19 jabs, the Centre has asked states and Union territories to consider exchange of near-expiry vaccine vials available at private vaccination centres with long-expiry doses stocked at government facilities.
While majority of the country’s adult population is now covered under the Covid vaccination programme, the uptake of doses has dropped, particularly in private hospitals where people have to pay for their jabs. This has raised concerns about expiry of stocks. The health ministry raised the issue of near-expiry vaccines with states and UTs.
