Mysore: Pharmaceutical meet from December 19
The city is gearing up to host the 67th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress. The Indian Hospital Pharmacists Association will organize the conference in JSS University from December 19 to 21.
More than 10,000 delegates will take part in the event to be organized with the theme "Pharmacist for a Healthy India" (Swasth Bharat). Experts in pharmaceuticals, medicine, education, industries, scientists from India and abroad, as well as politicians will take part in various sessions.
Organizing committee president and JSS University vice-chancellor VC Dr B Suresh told reporters that the vision of "Health India" is possible only when 1.2 billion people of the country have access to quality medicines at affordable cost. The country stands third in producing pharmaceutical items and eighth in terms of cost effectiveness.
The aim of the conference is also to motivate and discuss opportunities to set up pharmaceutical industries in Mysore and promote the heritage city as an educational hub, said Suresh. The event includes plenary lectures, symposia, panel discussions, poster presentations and placement opportunities on a wide range of topics. Drug controllers from various parts of the world will share their views on regulation and problems of the industry, said Suresh.
