Drug inspectors seize expired medicines worth Rs 40,000

The team swung into action after they received a tip-off about the illegal operation of the chemist shop and conducted the raid. According to the officials, the store has been running for the past four years without a valid license.
“We have seized 78 kinds of different medicines, some of which belonging to a restricted category, whose sale requires a doctor’s prescription. We also recovered some of the drugs, which are given as samples to the physicians and its sale is strictly prohibited,” Babita Rani, one of the drug inspectors who raided the store, told TOI.
She said the seized drugs have been sent to Gajraula police station and a complaint against the drug store owner will be filed soon.
The station house officer Gajraula police station, Devendra Singh, told that as soon as a complaint is registered from the officials’ end an FIR would be filed and the investigation would begin.
