AstraZeneca: Expect new version of vax to be ready for use by autumn
AstraZeneca said on Thursday it expects to have a new version of its Covid vaccine ready for use by this autumn. The company said it has been working for Oxford university’s scientists to adapt the shot.
The comments came as CEO Pascal Soriot defended the company’s vaccine saying that though not perfect, it will have a big impact on the pandemic. “Is it perfect? No it’s not perfect, but it’s great. Who else is making 100 million doses in February?” Soriot said. “We are going to save thousands of lives and that’s why we come to work everyday.” Meanwhile, African Union’s disease control body said that it was not “walking away” from AstraZeneca’s vaccine. agencies
