Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals acquires five eye hospitals in Pune
The acquisitions strengthened the eye care chain’s presence in Maharashtra, adding to its existing tally of two eye hospitals in Pune. It is looking at greenfield and brownfield expansion into emerging markets in the states such as Nagpur, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Satara, Akola and Ahmednagar.
Commenting on the acquisition, Dr Amar Agarwal, chairman, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals, said, “We are delighted that these five eye hospitals, counted among Pune’s finest eye care facilities, are now part of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals. We carefully choose our partner hospitals based on qualitative factors such as legacy, surgical skills, business skills, brand name, and goodwill among the patient community. We strongly feel that Pune has a huge pent-up demand for quality eye care.”
Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals has raised over Rs 1,000 crore recently from TPG Growth and Temasek, the country’s largest fundraising in the eye care space.
While there will be no change with respect to the existing management teams at the five acquired eye hospitals, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospitals will provide robust support in terms of further training of staff, hiring additional manpower, and upgrading technology and offerings based on its global expertise.
