During hearing of a suo motu petition on coronavirus-related issues clubbed with other petitions on the subject, the amicus curiae said that the rate list decided by the state government in compliance with the court order has uniform rates for all the hospitals and districts. A multi-speciality hospital in a metro city is supposed to charge a corona patient the same amount as an ordinary hospital in a tribal district, he said. He compared the rate chart with districts in other states such as Rajasthan, Kerala and Chhattisgarh and deduced that corona treatment rates in MP is 25 to 50 percent less in other states.
On vaccination, the state government apprised the court that by the end of September, all persons above 18 years of age will have the first dose of vaccine.
The court was further told that there are 1,280 ventilators in 13 medical colleges of the state, out of which 23 are non-functional. In the government hospitals across 52 districts of the state, there are 567 ventilators. There are CT scan machines in 14 district hospitals and in the remaining districts, CT scan machines will be installed by October. The number of ICU beds for corona has been raised to 7,595 and 161 Oxygen plants are being set up across the state.
After going through the status report, the court directed that the CT scan machines should be provided in all the district hospitals by October 4 and dysfunctional ventilators should be repaired
