New Delhi: Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has introduced the TECNIS PureSee, a purely refractive intraocular lens (IOL) designed for individuals with presbyopia, in India.

The TECNIS PureSee IOL delivers uninterrupted, high-quality vision with best-in-class contrast and low-light performance, comparable to a monofocal IOL. It also maintains a dysphotopsia profile similar to that of a monofocal IOL, minimizing visual disturbances such as halos, glare, and starbursts.

The lens’s purely refractive design enhances surgical ease and provides high tolerance to refractive errors, ensuring precise visual outcomes, the company stated.

Cataract surgery is the most common surgical procedure worldwide, with approximately 28 million procedures performed annually. However, only 10-15 per cent of patients receive advanced optical IOLs specifically designed to address conditions like astigmatism and presbyopia," said Burzin Shahana, Country Manager, Surgical Vision India & South Asia, Johnson & Johnson MedTech.
