Raipur: The Department of Pulmonary, Critical, and Sleep Medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Raipur continues to advance patient care by integrating cutting-edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.

The institute has now introduced Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) and Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) estimation in the outpatient department (OPD), further strengthening its commitment to high-quality healthcare and research.

Prof. Dr Sajal De, Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, highlighted that CPET is a specialised, non-invasive test assessing the combined function of the heart, lungs, and muscles during exercise. It plays a crucial role in evaluating unexplained exertional breathlessness, determining exercise capacity, and guiding treatment for various cardiac and pulmonary conditions. The FeNO test, a non-invasive measurement of nitric oxide in exhaled breath, is particularly useful for diagnosing and managing asthma, helping to optimise medication, monitor treatment adherence, and adjust dosages as needed.
