GHAZIABAD. You may have heard stories of common people getting duped by occultists but in one of the rare case, a 55-year-old MBBS doctor became victim of one such tantric, who duped her of Rs 2 crores.
Muradnagar based Dr Sunita Sharma was tricked by a ‘tantrik’ into paying Rs 65 lakhs in cash under the false promise of making her youthful again.
Under the pretext of doubling her gold, Tantrik also made her part with gold jewellery worth Rs 1.35 crores.
The ‘tantrik’ is now in police custody and the investigation is going on.
Sharma, who is running a private clinic for last 26-years, and got separated from her husband some time back, came in touch with this ‘tantrik’ seven years ago, who visited her clinic to get his wife treated.
While the treatment was on, the man deceived Sharma by claiming that he can solve any problem through tantra-mantra. She fell for his claims and narrated all her family issues to him in the hope of some solution.
In her police complaint, the doctor alleged that the impersonator then took money from her to conduct special prayers that would make her look youthful and get her unemployed son a job.
In the last seven years, the woman alleged that the 'tantrik' lured her into paying Rs 65 lakhs in cash and 1.5 kg of gold jewellery.
She began doubting 'tantrik' after she failed to get rid of any of her problems. When she repeatedly asked him to return her money, the fraudster threatened to kill her family.
Realizing that she had been trapped by him, the doctor approached police and lodged a complaint.
