Tamil Nadu logs 522 new cases of Covid
Fresh cases of Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu continued to decline on Friday, when the state reported 522 cases.
All districts barring Ariyalur and Thiruvarur reported new cases on Friday. Chennai registered 104 new cases, equal to the number it had on Wednesday. After Chennai, Chengalpet recorded 50 new cases and Coimbatore had 38, followed by Kanyakumari (31), Tiruvallur (24) and Krishnagiri (21). A total of 12 districts reported cases between 10 and 20 while 18 others reported cases in single digits.
More than 40% of active cases in the state were in Chennai (2375) followed by Chengalpet (420) and Coimbatore (338). Of the 412 hospital admissions for Covid-19 across the state, there were 167 patients on oxygen beds and 44 of them in ICU.
Neighbouring Puducherry reported 43 fresh Covid-19 cases. The territory did not report any Covid-19 deaths and the death toll remained at 1,974.
