The state health department has fixed the price of plasma for Covid-19 treatment at Rs 5,500 per 200 ml-bag. State government officials said they have received numerous complaints regarding patients being fleeced by hospitals and blood banks.

Some patients have said they were being charged Rs 50,000 per bag and insurance companies have refused to settle their claims.

The health department has also capped the price of high-resolution CT scans. The price of CT scans less than 16 slices has been capped at Rs 2,000, while the price of scans between 16 and 64 slices has been capped at Rs 2,500.

Scans with more than 64 slices will cost Rs 3,000. Higher the number of slices, better the diagnostic image.
