Start all necessary preparations for Covid 3rd wave: UP DM

Varanasi: To keep the medical infrastructure and also human resources ready to meet challenges of the anticipated third wave of Covid-19, district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma asked to start all necessary preparations including resource development immediately in the district.

The DM convened a meeting of officials of health department and officials of hospitals with Covid facilities at his camp office on Tuesday. The DM asked that apart from conducting refresher training course for the medical and paramedical staff who tackled first and second wave, special training sessions for new staff including ambulance drivers will also be conducted.

Hospitals including BHU, SPG divisional, DDU district, LBS government, ESIC, BLW, HB cancer and heritage were asked to take stock of all facilities and resources available with them including oxygen supply network, oxygen concentrators, high flow nasal cannula, ventilators, doctors, paramedical staff, lab technicians and ambulance drivers.

Officials of all these hospitals will give report on available resources and also about the refresher and training courses conducted for medical, paramedical and supporting staff to the chief medical officer, DM said.

DM also gave directions for preparing hospital wise lists on availability of beds and facilities for adult and paediatric patients and asses what more is required. He asked the CMO to send the equipment procured for the community health centres of Araziline, Cholapur, Narpatpur and Gangapur on priority.
