Six emergency cases in a day keep Delhi Metro medical team on toes
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has a trained medical team to deal with emergencies. In all the cases, DMRC staff was able to attend to the passengers and rush them to medical care immediately.
In the first incident, a male passenger, who was feeling unwell at Rajiv Chowk stati on, was sent to Lady Hardinge Hospital. He was travelling from Vidhan Sabha to Dwarka Sector-12. At Hauz Khas, a woman fell unconscious on the platform. “She was sent to Max Hospital, Saket, and was accompanied by one station staff. She was travelling from AIIMS to Malviya Nagar,” a DMRC spokesperson said.
At Malviya Nagar station, another woman fell unconscious on the platform. “An ambulance was called in, but because it got late, she was rushed to Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital in a private vehicle accompanied by her friend and a station staff, the spokesperson added.
At Kaushambi, a man fell unconscious inside a train. “He was deboarded and sent to Yashoda Hospital in a private vehicle. Two staff from the station accompanied him,” the spokesperson informed. At the nearby Anand Vihar station, a woman passenger was found unconscious on the platform. “She was sent to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital by CATS ambulance along with a station staff and her relative,” he said.
The last incident occurred at the Shivaji Park station where another woman was found unconscious inside a train. “She was sent to Agrasen Hospital in a CATS ambulance. She was accompanied by her colleague,” he said.
“All DMRC employees, both technical and non-technical, are imparted first-aid training by experts at the time of induction at Shastri Park Training Institute,” the spokesperson said.
