Ram Vilas Paswan admitted to Fortis Escorts with congestion in lungs and acute kidney failure

Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan got admitted to Fortis Escorts heart institute on Sunday with congestion in lungs and acute kidney failure.

Doctors at the hospital treating him said that he was stable and they were keeping a close watch on his condition.

The minister has pre existing heart conditions, doctors said. In 2017 Paswan underwent a heart surgery in London to fix a leaky heart valve by fitting a device. Earlier he also underwent angioplasty, mitral valve clip.

“He has multiple issues. Due to his pre existing heart conditions, he is inoperable and has poor heart function. He is on medication right now and we are keeping a close watch on his condition,” said one doctor, on the condition of anonymity.
