Rajasthan: Health dept issues guidelines to tackle spread of Nipah
Health minister Raghu Sharma on Thursday organised a review meeting regarding the Nipah Virus in humans as well as Glanders disease in horses.
Health minister Raghu Sharma on Thursday organised a review meeting regarding the Nipah Virus in humans as well as Glanders disease in horses. He instructed the officials to monitor the people travelling from Kerala and has asked the Rapid Response Team to try identifying all suspected patients. Advisory have been issued to people travelling from Kerala that in case of cold, cough, headache that are the symptoms of Nipah virus, take medical help as soon as possible.
Nipah Virus infection in India first broke out in Kozhikode district in Kerala in May, 2018 in which around 17 people died including a nurse who was treating the patients. It is communicable disease and can be spread through bats, pigs and infected human beings. At present there is no cure of this virus which makes the situation even more worse. In June 2018, Kerala declared itself to be free from Nipah virus but its come back right after an year after six people have been found positive with the disease in Kerala has raised concern all over the country.
Raghu Sharma has advised people to avoid eating food or vegetables bitten by animals or birds, has the health officials to issue guidelines to hotels and restaurants owners to keep a check on Nipah virus and spread awareness about it.
