Pranab Mukherjee, former President, passes away at 84

Former President Pranab Mukherjee passed away at the Army's Research and Referral Hospital on Monday. He was 84. The condition of the former President had worsened and he remained on ventilator support, the hospital had informed earlier.

NEW DELHI: Former President Pranab Mukherjee passed away at the Army's Research and Referral Hospital on Monday. He was 84.

The condition of the former President had worsened and he remained on ventilator support, the hospital had informed earlier.

A multidisciplinary team of doctors was constantly monitoring the health of the former President.

Mukherjee was admitted to the military hospital and had also tested positive for Covid-19 prior to a surgery.

A powerful orator and scholar, Mukherjee had been a Congress stalwart before he was elected as India's 13th President and served from July 2012 to 2017 in the top post.
