Pharma D holders begin their morchas for Group-A med officer postings
First morcha was taken out in Amravati on July 17, followed by 2 morchas in Nanded and Latur on July 18.

“Hundreds of Pharma D degree holders participated in the rally highlighting placards about our demands. In every district, we met district collector and handed over a memondarum of demands,” said Dr Vinayak Ghadyal, president of Maharashtra Pharma D Association.
Government has decided to appoint Ayurveda doctors (BAMS) at PHCs on contract basis where MBBS doctor are not available. Ayurveda degree holders will be appointed as Group-A health officers. Earlier, only MBBS doctors used to get Group-A posts.
‘A large number of qualified and skilled Pharm D doctors are readily available; who are experts in modern system of modern medicine. Pharm.D syllabus includes almost all the topics of modern system of medicine. (see attached annexure for more details). Pharm.D professionals have good bedside clinical knowledge of various diseases and they can be appointed as health officers in primary health centers (PHCs) in peripheral areas. It is the safe and convenient solution to fill these posts with Pharm.D professionals and address the health care needs of the state. So we request the government to consider Pharm.D professionals for the post of Medical officers Group - A post in primary health centres (PHCs),’ states the memorandum submitted by the Pharma D holders.
Members informed that series of peaceful morchas will be taken out at many districts in coming week.
