Pak's heaviest man left unattended in ICU after op, dies

A Pakistani man with morbid obesity, who on June 28, had undergone a weight loss surgery in Lahore on special directives from army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, died on Monday when staff at the ICU abandoned post after the family of a pregnant woman who had died turned violent in the hospital.

Noorul Hassan, 55, weighing 330 kg, had made headlines in local media last month when he was air lifted on a Pakistan Army helicopter to Lahore for treatment. He had appealed to General Bajwa on social media to take note of his predicament. Dr Maazul Hassan, a surgeon in Lahore's Shalimar Hospital, said a pregnant patient had died on Monday after which her angry relatives smashed windows, switched off ventilators and hit doctors.
