Over 50% health staff in Lucknow immunized

LUCKNOW: More than 50% healthcare workers in the city are now fully immunized against Covid-19 with 1,544 more beneficiaries in the category completing their vaccination course on Friday.

There are 68,519 healthcare workers in Lucknow and 36,693 (53.5%) have completed the two-dose course given 28 days apart. The drive was launched on January 16.

Frontline workers were not far behind with at least 2,024 workers taking their second shot on Friday. With this, the number of frontline workers who have completed the course has gone up to 20,534 (47.6%). Total frontline workers in the city are 43,119.

Overall, 12,509 people were inoculated at 125 centres in the city on Friday, including 5,154 senior citizens aged 60 years and above, and 1,558 people in the age group of 45-59 years.

Meanwhile, about 1,112 healthcare workers and 1,117 frontline workers also took their first shots.
