Over 14K pregnant women enrolled for better health care

Prayagraj: Intensifying the campaign ‘One step towards nutrition’, the officials of health department have enrolled 14,974 pregnant women for better health care till date. 418 out of 14,14974 pregnant woman have been categorised under high risk pregnancies and 87 of them are being offered essential medicines.

Officials said a campaign has also been launched in all rural and urban based medical health care units wherein pregnant women are being advised to take iron tablets. Moreover, a mop up week campaign with an aim to cover left pregnant women would also be taken up between July 7 and 13.

A senior health official said, “There will be regular blood test of women and all essential health services will also be offered. Officials said the registration of high risk pregnant woman has started with all primary, urban primary and community health services and these women are being offered iron, folic acid, calcium and albendazole. Besides, children suffering from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) were also given folic acid, IFA syrup, albendazole, vitamin A and multivitamin tablets.

Officials said that similar campaign was also carried out in 2022 wherein 93,654 and 66,327 pregnant women were offered medicines and nutrition in first and second phases.
