Over 100 hospitalised in a day due to Covid cases in Mumbai after 4 months, 2 below 40 die
A civic official said that of the 111 who were hospitalised on Sunday, about a dozen needed oxygen support. While the total number of patients in hospitals for Covid-19 in the city has reached 425, the bed occupancy is still less than 2% (1.7%).
New detections in the state as well as the city did not mark any significant increase over Saturday, though. The state on Sunday recorded 2,946 cases, marginally up from Saturday's 2,922, but still below the 3,000 mark seen last week. In Mumbai, 1,803 cases were reported on Sunday, a slight uptick from Saturday's 1,745. Overall, the state has reported nearly 23,500 (23,491) cases in June, of which almost 15,000 have been from Mumbai. The rapid rise in cases has brought down Mumbai's doubling rate to 513 days.

Active cases in Maharashtra rose to 16,370, an increase of 10% over Saturday. In Mumbai, active cases inched closer to 11,000 (10,889). A state official said that despite the rise in cases, not more than 5% of patients are hospitalised across Maharashtra.
While Mumbai Metropolitan Region and Pune account for nearly 90% of the cases, districts like Nagpur and Nashik are seeing a marginal rise. Nagpur had 179 active cases on Sunday while Nashik had 82 cases.
