No virus test for ILI, SARI deaths in Karnataka

BENGALURU: From now on, Karnataka will not test patients dying of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) for Covid-19. Earlier, these individuals were treated as suspected cases and throat swabs were collected within six hours of their death.


The new testing guidelines issued on Monday have excluded death of suspected cases from the criteria.

Returnees from Maharashtra with comorbidity and/or aged above 60 years will be tested on 5th to 7th days of arrival after the end of institutional quarantine even if they are asymptomatic.

Also, the state has banned organizing birthday, kitty parties and other social gatherings inside apartment complexes.
