Nashik : Admin invites applications for Ayurvedic doctors to fill up vacant posts in PHCs
With primary health centres (PHCs) finding it hard to get MBBS graduates, the district administration has invited applications from BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctors to fill up the vacant medical posts in the healthcare centres.
Senior officials of the health department said that 70 of the 106 primary health centres across the district did not have adequate staff.
District health officer in-charge of Nashik zilla parishad, Dawal Salve, said there were at least 16 primary health centres in the district which had no doctors at all. “It is a tough task to shif a doctor from one place to another in emergency cases,” said Salve.
There are a total of 195 posts of Group A (MBBS) doctors approved for PHCs in the district, of which 93 are lying vacant. With MBBS graduates not willing to work in PHCs, a decision was taken at the higher level to fill the posts with BAMS doctors.
Health officers said that over 500 applications have poured in for the 93 vacant posts since last month and assured that doctors would be there in the PHCs within a month.
