Medical students, hospital staff stage protest

Hassan: Medical students, doctors and staff attached to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences staged a flash protest after a student was attacked allegedly by a patient's relatives.

A group of youths attacked a medical student while providing treatment to the patient late on Monday. A few youths arrived at HIMS hospital to get emergency treatment for their friend. The doctors alleged that while a medical student was providing treatment, the youths unnecessarily started a fight and attacked the student.

Following the incident, hundreds of medical students and hospital staff staged a protest on Monday night. They staged a protest in front of the hospital entrance, demanding the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack. "We work day and night to save lives, but incidents like these should not be repeated. The govt and police department must take strict action," the protesters demanded. A complaint was filed at Hassan City police station regarding the incident, and police assured taking necessary measures.
