The accused, Hanumantray Biradar, was on the run since several months. Mapusa police has obtained a three-day judicial custody of the accused after he was produced before the additional district and sessions court in Mapusa on Tuesday.
Biradar, who had been allegedly practising medicine with a fake Medical Council of India registration certificate, had been evading the cops since his consultancy was raided earlier in March this year. Biradar had a flourishing practice in Mapusa and he tried to evade the cops allegedly through political connections.
Acting on a complaint by the Goa Medical Council registrar, Govind Nasnodkar, Mapusa police had also raided Biradar’s consultancy opposite the Jama Masjid in Angod, Mapusa.
PSI Kiran Naik said the police were keeping a tab on his whereabouts and managed to nab him at Mapusa.
