Maharashtra not procuring Covid vaccines

Maharashtra: The state doesn't intend to procure Covid vaccines at the moment although a surge in demand is anticipated looking at rising cases. Furthermore, there is no supply of the Covishield vaccine from the Serum Institute of India, which is the one that the majority of people in Maharashtra have received.

But 1.4 lakh doses of Covaxin from Bharat Biotech are still available. In December, the state had reminded the Centre that they were running low on Covishield doses, but received no response. An official has stated that the Centre hinted they had no plans to continue buying vaccines due to the negligible demand.

Dr Nitin Ambadekar, director of health services, confirmed that the state doesn't plan on allocating funds to purchase any Covid vaccines at present.
