Karnataka: Fake doctor drawing Rs 46,000 monthly salary goes missing

LAKSHMESHWAR: A fake doctor, who was allegedly drawing a monthly salary of Rs 46,000 from the Karnataka government for the past 4-5 months has gone missing.

A Belagavi resident was using the details one Dr Vikas Patil to get the job of district health officer in Gadag. He has been missing for last 15 days. His real name is not known yet.

He applied for the post of district health officer in Gadag and submitted the concerned certificates of his qualification and got the job in March 2018. He was also appointed as doctor for the Bannikoppa Primary Health Centre (PHC) of Shirahatti taluk.

He was getting Rs 46, 000 per month from the Karnataka government. He also got married married after telling his in-laws that he is a doctor. He was also giving treatment to the patients.

The ‘original’ Dr Vikas Patil is pursuing higher studies in medicine. Someone informed Vikas’s father about this fake doctor. After Vikas’s father gave the original MBBS certificates of his son to Gadag district health officer Dr NS Honakeri, this fraud came to light.
