Int’l conference held on World Doctorates Day
An international conference on ‘Issues and Challenges in Doctoral Research’ was organized by Banaras Hindu University (BHU), under the aegis of 'Global Network of Doctorates' at Swatantrata Bhawan to mark 4th World Doctorates Day on Tuesday.
While presiding over the function, BHU vice-chancellor Prof G C Tripathi said that the universities are the centre of creation and research. Hence, qualitative research work is important and gives recognition not only to the research scholar but also the director of the research.
Director of Global Network of Doctorates Prof K K Dwivedi gave detailed information about principles and work of the doctorates association and also highlighted aim of the conference on the occasion. He emphasized on morality and ethical values of research work and underscored about consultative research committee for development research and responsibilities of director for a good research work.
Prof D P Pandey of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU, spoke on the significance of information, knowledge, exploration and novelty for research work. Director of Institute of Agricultural Sciences Prof R P Singh opined that for a qualitative research, students need to be given proper guidelines.
Vice-chancellor of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur, Prof J V Vaishampayan, who was the chief guest on the occasion, stressed on the significance of PhD degrees and said that UGC has made national eligibility test (NET) examination mandatory to maintain quality of research work.
In second technical session, Prof. Priyankan Upadhyay, Prof. Vandana Bose and Prof. P K Nagar addressed the audience. Around 300 students had participated in the conference.
The Global Network of Doctorates is a distinguished group of highly accomplished professionals from 55 countries with more than 2,700 members having doctorate degree in any field of study.
