The agitating teachers even threatened of moving high court if the university as well as colleges do not abstain from such practices at the earliest, they said.
The agitating teachers even threatened of moving high court if the university as well as colleges do not abstain from such practices at the earliest, they said. A member of the association confirmed of being in the process of preparing an in depth PIL against the same for the purpose of filing it to the HC.
The representation made by Swabhimani Maharashtra Underprivileged Teachers Association has been made to the university vice chancellor. In the written representation, the association even mentioned names of teachers currently employed with private as well as government pharmacy colleges in the city.
Association’s founder president and university academic council member Dr Shankar Ambhore, “Eligible and qualified teachers are being sidelined in a systemic manner by lobbies close to those in power and are ending up damaging the educational institutes in unprecedented manner.”
Members of the association including some senior faculties of different pharmacy colleges have come out in the open against the alleged practice, which, according to them, has become a new normal.
Professor AJ Siddiqui said, “The authorities are causing irrevocable damage to the pharmacy students by roping in unapproved, inexperienced as well as non-qualified teachers for teaching as well as evaluating the examination answer sheets.”
He went on to demand registration of offences against those shielding as well as promoting this unprofessional culture in colleges.
The delegation in its memorandum has termed the activities to be in gross violation of several sections of the University Act, 2016. The written memorandum has even stated that several pharmacy colleges headed by unapproved teachers are allegedly getting in to malpractices and illicit financial transactions with the students.
“Not following the norms directly takes a toll on the meritorious students, who end up lagging behind as they do not get into greasing palms of the unapproved and ineligible teachers,” said a professor part of the delegation.
Members of the association also raised serious questions over people having criminal offences heading pharmacy colleges and demanded that they should be replaced by the deserving professors and lecturers on merit basis.
