Indore: 27,000 Covid vaccine to expire in 10 days

Indore: Around 27000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine doses including 22000 doses of Covaxin are to expire in next 10 days with no clarity of new stock arrival. The rest are 5000 doses of Covishield vaccines, which would all expire by February 9, official said.

“We have 27000 doses of vaccine including 22000 of Covaxin”, district immunization officer Dr Tarun Gupta said.

“People are not showing much response to the precaution dose as most of the people reaching the centers are those that require vaccination certificates to visit foreign countries”, said Dr Gupta.

The pace of vaccination has again gone down again in the city as only about 300-500 doses are being consumed daily even when the department has opened 37 centers across the city.

Dr Gupta added, “ They appeal to the people to get their final dose of vaccine at the earliest. “

Till now, only about 4.99 lakh people have taken the precaution dose out of the 28 lakh targeted population. “We are not sure when the new stock of vaccine would be received and people should not wait for the last date of expiry,” Dr Gupta added.
