Indore: 12 wards achieve 100% inoculation of first dose

Indore: Around a dozen wards of Indore Municipal Corporation in district have reported 100% coverage of its eligible population with first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

The ward with cent per cent coverage of vaccine included ward number 06,07,13,22,33,42,49,57,71,72,80 and 81, according to an official list released from IMC office.

IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal said, “Twelve wards in district have completed first dose inoculation of first dose vaccine to eligible beneficiaries there.”

Those wards were identified based on voter lists of areas. All those, without any dose of vaccine were identified and inoculated in a day, said commissioner Pal.

“There is an average of around 25,000 and 30,000 people in these ward,” said commissioner Pal.

In the day, ward 33 became the first one in the district to achieve this feat of cent percent inoculation of the first dose around noon. BJP general secretary Kailash Vijaywargiya congratulated the people of the area in a programme to celebrate the occasion.

The district till 7.30 pm has achieved inoculation of 24.94 lakh doses including of 21.52 as first dose against a target of 28 lakh people, who are aged above 18.

Dr Tarun Gupta, district immunisation officer said, “The vaccination sites in those wards would continue to operate as usual so as to inoculate a second dose to the eligible population.”

On the question of reducing the number of sessions in those areas for now to focus on other areas, Dr Gupta said, “It will depend on orders from senior authorities. The plan will be made accordingly if need arises.”

Earlier, village Kalli Billod became the first one in the district to complete the 100% inoculation of its population with first dose at the beginning of mega drive on June 21.

Indore district in the day achieved 74592 inoculations at 228 sessions. Of those 74592 inoculations, 41800 were people aged between 18-44 while 17000 were aged between 45-59 years of age.
