Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons appoints Dr Sharan Patil as new president

Bangalore: The Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons (ISHKS) has appointed Dr Sharan Shivaraj Patil, Chairman and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon of Sparsh Hospital, as its President for the years 2023–2024. The appointment was announced at ISHKS 2023's 16th Annual Conference, which was recently held in Hyderabad.

Speaking about his appointment as President of ISHKS, Dr Sharan Patil, Chairman and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, Sparsh Hospital, said: "It is an honour to be bestowed the Presidency of ISHKS, the most prestigious body of orthopaedic specialists in India. I look forward to working along with my fellow doctors to bring the latest technology and learnings in orthopaedic research and solutions and make these accessible for our citizens."

As part of his new role, Dr Patil will be responsible for implementing the objectives of ISHKS. The objectives are focused on improving and bettering the standards of practise of the art and science of treating hip and knee diseases.

ISHKS is an organisation that mirrors in India the work done by similar organisations in America and Europe to promote the highest level of professional standards in patient care for disorders of hip and knee joints. Dr Sharan Patil in his career as an orthopaedic surgeon, has provided surgical interventions to over 5,000 underprivileged patients and has performed over 15,000 surgeries, including 8,000 joint replacements so far, according to Sparsh Hospital’s statement to the press.
