India reports 9,629 fresh COVID-19 infections, 29 fatalities in last 24 hrs
India’s active COVID-19 caseload currently stands at 61,013, a reduction of more than 4,000 cases that were reported on April 24, 2023, at 65,683. The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 5.38 per cent and 5.61 per cent, respectively. The Union Health Ministry also reported that the number of active cases is currently 0.14 per cent of total infections and that the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.67 per cent.
India’s active COVID-19 caseload currently stands at 61,013, a reduction of more than 4,000 cases that were reported on April 24, 2023, at 65,683. The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 5.38 per cent and 5.61 per cent, respectively.
In addition to this, 29 new fatalities have been reported nationwide, bringing the total death toll to 5,31,398 since the onset of the pandemic. The mortalities have taken place: one each in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Odisha; two each in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh; three each in Maharashtra, Rajasthan; six in Delhi; and ten reconciled in Kerala, as per the data released by the Union Health Ministry.
Barring a few states and union territories such as Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, and Chandigarh, the rest of the states and union territories are witnessing a decline in fresh infection cases.
11,967 recoveries have been recorded in the last twenty-four hours, bringing the total recoveries since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4,43,23,045. The Union Health Ministry also reported that the number of active cases is currently 0.14 per cent of total infections and that the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.67 per cent.
As part of the national immunisation campaign, 5,407 doses of vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours. India has so far administered 220.66 crore total doses (95.21 crore second doses and 22.87 crore precaution doses) of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 92.58 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far, including 1,79,031 tests in the last 24 hours.
