India reports 7,533 fresh COVID-19 infections, 44 fatalities in last 24 hrs
The daily and weekly positivity rates are also declining and currently stand at 3.62 per cent and 5.11 per cent, respectively. In addition to this, 44 new fatalities have been reported nationwide, bringing the total death toll to 5,31,468 since the onset of the pandemic.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently said that the coronavirus was here to stay despite the world coming out of an emergency phase. Further, the UN’s agency on healthcare, elaborated that the world would need to learn how to control its continuous non-emergency impacts, such as the post-COVID-19 condition, or long COVID.

In addition to this, 44 new fatalities have been reported nationwide, bringing the total death toll to 5,31,468 since the onset of the pandemic. The mortalities have taken place: one each in Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal; two each in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh; three each in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh; seven in Delhi; and sixteen others reconciled in Kerala, as per the data released by the Union Health Ministry.
Barring a few states and union territories such as West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh, the rest of the states and union territories have witnessed a decline in active coronavirus cases since yesterday.
11,047 recoveries have been recorded in the last twenty-four hours, bringing the total recoveries since the outbreak of the pandemic to 4,43,47,024. The Union Health Ministry also reported that the number of active cases is currently 0.12 per cent of total infections and that the national COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 98.69 per cent.
As part of the national immunisation campaign, 4,775 doses of vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours. India has so far administered 220.66 crore total vaccine doses (95.21 crore second doses and 22.87 crore precaution doses) of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 92.63 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far, including 2,08,112 tests in the last 24 hours.
