IMA Kochi launches initiative to connect doctors
The aim is to reduce the gap among doctors to promote teamwork and to reduce the gap between doctors and community.
As a first step towards this, a recent meeting of the IMA executive committee used a social experiment, where the doctors were unexpectedly asked to introduce the person sitting next to them in the meeting.
“This is a great tool for team building. It is always more interesting and pleasant to be introduced by someone else than to introduce oneself,” said IMA Kochi president Dr Rajeev Jayadevan.
Besides improve camaraderie among doctors, IMA Kochi also plans to bring in international standards in patient care, including preventive health, emphasise the primary role of the general practitioner and streamline referral patterns. Also, they are planning to have a doctors’ welfare wing dedicated to take care of the everyday problems that doctors encounter while in duty. Doctors and healthcare workers will also be trained in communication skills and other skills that will improve patient experience.
