Health dept organizes check-up camp in Jawaddi

Ludhiana: One day after a 17-year-old boy died with symptoms of gastroenteritis in Chhoti Jawaddi, the district health department organised a health check-up camp in the area.

Two patients complaining of mild diarrhoea were sent to civil hospital as their conditions were deteriorating. The civic officials were not able to find any fault in the water supply lines after the residents complained of contaminated water in the area. The executive engineer of operation and maintenance cell, Nachhtar Singh, said, “We have checked thoroughly in the area but could not find leakage. But, our officials are out in the field and the problem will be solved shortly.”

The district epidemiologist Dr Ramesh Kumar said, “The health teams will stay at the spot till the situation is brought under control completely.” He said MC officials have been asked to solve the problem of water contamination as people the drinking water getting mixed with sewerage water.
