Health dept forwards lists of 175 pvt hosps to JDA for action
Two separate lists of such private hospitals have been prepared, the first containing names of 118 hospitals and the second 57 others, said officials.
Two separate lists of such private hospitals have been prepared, the first containing names of 118 hospitals and the second 57 others, said officials.
“JDA’s enforcement branch will investigate all these 175 hospitals to find out whether they have violated building by-laws. If yes, proper action would be taken against the errant hospital managements,” said a JDA official wishing not to be quoted. Raghuveer Saini, the chief of JDA’s enforcement wing, refused to comment on this issue.
“This is not the right time to comment on it,” he said.
Sources said that after the two lists were received on Friday, officials of JDA’s enforcement wing are going through the building sanction files of these private hospitals. They would consult the civic body’s legal wing upon the finding of discrepancies to decide the next course of action, said an official.
The standoff between the managements of private hospitals and the state government going on for the past several days have affected healthcare across the state. In their ongoing protests against the government’s decision to enact the Right to Health law, the private hospitals have boycotted the government’s health schemes for the people even as the government is keen on having the Bill passed in the Assembly.
