HC notice to Centre, Raj for flouting HIV control Act

Jaipur: A division bench of Rajasthan High Court on Monday issued notices to the Union government, state government and AIDS Control Society of Rajasthan for violating the provisions of The Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017. The Act says that care coordinators for HIV+AIDS patients should be PLHIV (persons living with HIV+AIDS) which is not been followed.

“With a view to remove discrimination and support the persons living with HIV+AIDS, the Act, known as The Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Immune Deficiency Syndrome (Prevention and Control) Act, 2017, has been introduced. In order to strengthen people living with the disease, National AIDS Control Organization under the ministry of health and family welfare has issued certain guidelines,” said Ajay Kumar Jain, counsel for the petitioner.
