'FeedToDefeat' campaign in Delhi creates awareness on breast cancer
Through 'FeedToDefeat' campaign, Medela India aimed to empower women by enabling them to exercise breastfeeding that could help prevent the onset of breast cancer.
The event saw participation from women across Delhi-NCR who pledged for the cause by signing on a giant pink balloon.
According to WHO, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women across the globe. "Studies show that women who breastfeed for over a year, are five per cent less prone to develop this condition," said Medela India in its release.
"Breastfeeding is associated with the reduced risk of breast cancer, and hence it is important for new mothers to practice it," says Amit Raj Gogia, Country Head at Medela India.
"The health of a family is directly proportional to a mother's health. If they don't cultivate the habit of breastfeeding, they not only weaken the child's immune system, but their own also," he said.
